War: The Korean War

One language is spoken in both the North and the South, mutually intelligible except for one South Korean island .

Both Syngman Rhee and Kim Il Song wanted to start the war to unite the Korean people. The South was sending armed people across the border to start trouble, and Stalin's notes show that he was trying to stop Kim.

For the course of the war, and the selection of Rhee himself, it can be noted that there were few English speakers in higher office. Syngman Rhee, having studied at Oxford, was an exception. His wife spoke English, too. He was able to sell himself before the election as the person who could get the most out of America.

During and before the war, the North could easily place spies in Syngman Rhee's office .
