
The sacred language of Jainism is what Sanskrit scholars call Prakrit. It is a language like Sanskrit, but not as pure. Some Jain scholars have attempted to show that their language is, in fact, original, or, another view is that the original language of Jainism, Ardhamagadhi, is the basis of all Prakrit languages.
